In 1996 the government brought out The Party Wall etc Act which relates to any work executed on a party wall between two properties. The act is there if you intend to carry out a building scheme, which involves work on an existing wall shared with another property, building on a boundary with the neighbouring property or excavating near to a neighbouring building. The act provides a framework for eventually resolving disputes in relating to party walls etc. The fees for this type of work depends on the extent of the services provided.
